Organic Chemistry is the highest weightage section in JEE Main Chemistry. The most important chapters are:

General Organic Chemistry — Concepts of inductive effect, resonance, hyperconjugation, and reaction mechanisms form the foundation of all organic questions.

Hydrocarbons and their reactions — Addition, substitution, and elimination reactions appear every year.

Aldehydes, Ketones, and Carboxylic Acids — Named reactions like Aldol, Cannizzaro, and Clemmensen reduction are frequently tested.

Biomolecules and Polymers — Easy marks if memorised well. Expect 2–3 direct questions every session.

Physical Chemistry (30 marks)

Mole Concept, Chemical Equilibrium, Electrochemistry, Chemical Kinetics, and Thermodynamics together contribute around 30 marks. These require calculation practice.

Inorganic Chemistry (25 marks)

JEE Main 2026 Mathematics — Chapter-wise Weightage

High Weightage (25 marks)

Calculus — Limits, Continuity, Differentiation, Application of Derivatives, Integration, and Differential Equations together contribute 25 marks. This is the single most important area in JEE Main Maths.
